SUN July 7th :  Karl Evangelista's Song & Dance  /  Roger Kim's Say Yes

Roger Kim's Say Yes
Roger Kim-guitar
Crystal Pascucci-cello

Roger Kim approaches music with the understanding that it is a language. By playing with expectations, rhythm, impulses, and tension, music bypasses the specificity of words and reaches straight into the human psyche. Shaped by a background in classical form and orchestration, modern compositional techniques, and jazz harmony, Roger's playing, in addition to his compositions and arrangements, ask questions, take journeys, and describe sentiments.
--
Karl Evangelista's Song & Dance
Karl Evangelista-guitar
Cory Wright-baritone saxophone
Jordan Glenn-drums

Karl Evangelista's Song & Dance Trio is a longstanding collaboration with baritone saxophonist Cory Wright and drummer Jordan Glenn, a functional jazz trio that explores the nexus between free improvisation, rock elements, and noise music. The Song & Dance Trio synthesizes its influences into songs that are unique, surprising, and yes--fun and danceable.Tiny Mix Tapes calls Evangelista's music "essential current and future listening," and fans of Canterbury prog rock, 60's Impulse! records, and Bay Area pop will find plenty to enjoy in Song & Dance's special blend.
